چکیده

As a model, we used struggling induced by a repetitive stimulation of the tail or abdomen and two types of pseudoaffective responses were evoked in rats. The effects of narcotic and non-narcotic analgesics on these responses were alternately assessed. Narcotics were markedly effective in inhibiting struggling elicited by tail stimulation and slightly less effective in suppressing the abdominal stimulation-induced struggling. These effects on two types of struggling differed quantitatively but not qualitatively. On the other hand, non-narcotics such as aspirin (200 mg/kg, i.p.), aminopyrine (160 mg/kg, i.p.) and indomethacin (20 mg/kg, i.p.) had an inhibitory action on the struggling elicited by the tail stimulation but showed equivocal and far less inhibition on the abdominal stimulation-induced response. These two effects were quantitatively and qualitatively different because the slope of the dose-response curves were not in parallel. The action of baclofen appears to be ambiguous since it had distinctive inhibitory actions on both typed of struggling. However, baclofen can be classified into the latter group in that it exerted an inhibitory action on two types of struggling, in a quantitatively different manner. These results suggest that two types of struggling in rats provide a convenient means to assess the potency of analgesics.

گزارشی از مسمومیت‌های منجر به مرگ که به پزشکی قانونی کشور در سال 1380 ارجاع شده بودند

Poisoning due to chemical or pharmaceutical products is a relatively common cause of emergency room admissions in our country. These cases constitute between 0.5 to 2% of emergency room mortalities here. Data relating to poisoning in most developing countries is often patchy. Therefore, it was decided to conduct a study on deaths referred to autopsy division of LMO from June 2000 ...

Can aggressive postoperative non-narcotic therapy replace narcotics in patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomies?

Background Pain, although invariably present after surgical procedures, is not always well controlled. Medications from different analgesic groups are often used to control post-operative pain. Recently, attention has turned towards the optimization of non-opioid analgesics including NSAIDS and acetaminophen. After gynaecologic laparoscopy up to 80% of patients may require opioid analgesia. How...

Effects of narcotic analgesics on serotonin metabolism in brain of rats and mice.

The effects of narcotic analgesics on the brain 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-Ht) and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) levels of rats and mice were investigated in relation to our preceding data on the effect of humoral modulatorents. The results suggest that morphine accelerates the release of brain 5-HT both in rats and mice, and that neither methadone nor pethidine alters the brain 5-HT and 5-HI...

Effects of some narcotic analgesics upon the monosynaptic reflex inhibition from muscular and cutaneous afferents in spinal cord of the cat.

It has been know that, at a small dose, narcotic analgesics depress polysynaptic reflex activity in the spinal cats (1) and nociccptive reflexes in the spinal rats (2), as well as in spinal cats and dogs (3-6), where they do not depress, or slightly enhace the monosynaptic reflex (3). In order to explain this depression induced by narcotic analgesics, it has been suggested that the interneurons...
